Violin //

 

Katy Blatt has played the violin since she was two years old. She studied with Faith Whitley (Junior Guildhall) and then Professor Dona Lee Croft (Royal College of Music, London).

She was awarded an Instrumental Scholarship at Cambridge University, where she continued playing chamber music.

Since moving to London, she has formed and played in Los Pelos Rozos, a gypsy funk band, as well as working with a number of classical chamber music groups. She also teaches the violin.  

She is a founding member of Uccelli Strings.

PIOTR GRUDZIEN

Violin //

 

Piotr Grudzien is a violinist and musicologist.

He graduated from the State Music School, Lublin, Poland and obtained a degree in Musicology at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. 

He lived in Spain for 10 years, and frequently participates in ethnomusicological projects, researching the folklore of minority groups in Spain and Poland.

Now based in London, he is preparing for a doctorate in musicology and continues to work as a music teacher in several music centres in Poland, Spain and across the United Kingdom. 

Piotr is a founding member of Uccelli Strings.

TAMARA DOUGLAS-MORRIS

Cello //

Tamara is a cello teacher and composer for film and theatre.

 

She attended Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama. And since then the cello has played a big part in her life. As well as teaching, she has also played cello for various musicians including Mr Jukes, Knaan, Imperial Mammoth and Toothless.


Tamara received her Bachelor of Music in Ethnomusicology at City University and earned her Masters of Fine Arts in Film Composition (MFA) at

University of North Carolina School of The Arts. 

 

Amongst her scores, she has composed the music for the award winning film ‘The Fabulous Ice Age’, which was screened at the Dance on Camera Festival at the Lincoln Center in New York and won ‘Best Documentary’ and ‘Best Directing’ at the Women’s Independent Film Festival 2013. She has also scored the music to ‘Shakespeare in Watts’ directed by the late Mel Stuart, director of ‘Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory’ (1971).

 

Tamara has composed the music to the BAFTA/LA and Inner City Shakespeare Ensemble theatre productions of ‘Romeo and Juliet’ (she received an appreciation plaque from BAFTA/LA for this score), ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’ and ‘Twelfth Night’.

 

Tamara is a founding member of Uccelli Strings.
